We all have favorite restaurants! The atmosphere, the dimmed lights, the bread, the soup, the steak, or the desserts are enough to make us return to the same restaurant (more often even the same table) week after week! I recently realized that some of my favorite restaurants are only my favorite because of one or two dishes. Why deal with that heavy price tag when you can single out your favorite items and make them at home for pennies on the dollar?
Fresh, bold and a full meal for most, this lettuce wrap recipe is amazing. It’s a healthy appetizer, but I always found myself looking forward to this particular item instead of the entire experience. Once I learned how to make these at home, my prep time went from 30 minutes to only 10. That’s right! With practice, you can whip up a full meal for your family with a bit of multitasking and some lettuce leaves. For an even healthier meal, try darker leaves and brown rice.
This soup is hearty enough to be a full meal for most people. The potatoes, bacon, cheese, and cream provide a filling meal and comforting reminder of home. While I loved mom’s potato soup, this recipe just hits the spot for me and my family. It’s the best thing for rainy, cold, or gloomy evenings, too. When the weather is crummy and we’re feeling a bit down, I move dinner to the living room and we all watch a movie together and eat this soup for dinner. It’s a rare treat and boosts everyone’s spirits!
Another delicious but lighter soup that can be served as an appetizer or a meal if you also serve bread and sliced cheeses. I had never eaten tomato soup before going to this restaurant, but since then I have made this soup recipe at least once a month. It’s light enough to serve as a snack, too. When I make this, I make a large batch because someone is bound to want it for their after school snack time.
Make a meal that the kids will fight over. When I plan this meal, I make enough for everyone to have 3 – 4 strips and then I make a few extra. This is definitely a favorite at my house! I even sneak in a few baby corn and carrots to the kid’s plates and they hardly even notice. While this meal is delicious, I find that heating it up the next day is not as good. That doesn’t stop the kids from eating their chicken strips, though! I think kid’s in general just love chicken. Make their favorite this week and see if you love it as much as we do!
This is a little on the grown-up side of restaurants because it contains things that my kids think are “yucky.” I love this recipe and I hope that you will, too. For starters, I will find any reason to add garlic to my meals. It’s got so many nutritional benefits that an entire meal based on it makes me jump with joy! The different cheeses make this recipe incredibly savory. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water!
This is a great recipe to WOW your friends and family. Everyone loves cheesecake and this recipe really takes my cake game to the next level. I usually save this for birthdays or holidays, but it’s always worth the effort! The delicious flavors and savory cheesecake mixes so well together that I always crave this cake! It’s cheaper than buying one from the restaurant, too. That makes it all the more delicious in my book!
Delicious meals don’t always have to come with a hefty price tag! Find your favorite meals at your favorite restaurants and see if you can recreate them, too! For those times when a trip to your favorite place might not be in the budget, compromise instead and create something delicious right out of your own kitchen!
